About Life's Pearls

Residing in Maryland, Sherri has created custom poetry for both private individuals, public events and celebrations throughout Maryland. Sherri’s poetic journey started with the publication of motivational poetry in National Black Child Development Institute calendars from 1991 through 2009. Sherri's poem, “Just Being You is the Right Thing" was featured in An Activity Book for African American Families: Helping Children Cope with Crisis. Sponsored by Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, US Dept. of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health and National Black Child Development Institute, this book was published because research discovered that pain lived on in the minds of African American children after the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. The guide is a tool to help parents teach their children to cope with crisis and is still available online.

Sherri's book, Life's Pearls - Wisdom for a Meaningful Life, with a foreword by Les Brown, encourages us to reach for the pearls deep within us to turn problems into pearls. Sherri says that like pearls, "some people may have rough outer shells, but like pearls, one can never truly know the value of a person until they have seen what's inside". Life's Pearls seeks to bring out the inner beauty of everyone by encouraging them to look inside to realize their true beauty. A 2nd Edition has now been printed.

Several of Sherri's poems have been featured at Black History Poetry slams at Bonnie Branch Middle School for seven years.
